{"id":3673,"date":"2012-08-08T12:12:06","date_gmt":"2012-08-08T16:12:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.libology.com\/blog\/?p=3673"},"modified":"2012-08-08T12:12:06","modified_gmt":"2012-08-08T16:12:06","slug":"wikipedia-redefined","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.libology.com\/blog\/2012\/08\/08\/wikipedia-redefined.html","title":{"rendered":"Wikipedia Redefined"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a title=\"Wikipedia Redefined\" href=\"http:\/\/www.wikipediaredefined.com\/\"><strong>Wikipedia Redefined<\/strong><\/a> is a proposal by a creative agency called\u00a0<a title=\"New!\" href=\"http:\/\/newisnew.lt\/en\">NEW!<\/a> which presents changes that would make <a title=\"Wikipedia\" href=\"http:\/\/www.wikipedia.org\/\">Wikipedia<\/a> more usable, both as a user and as an editor.<\/p>\n<p>Having used <a title=\"MediaWiki\" href=\"http:\/\/www.mediawiki.org\/wiki\/MediaWiki\">MediaWiki<\/a> (the software that runs Wikipedia) extensively, I can vouch that there are usability issues that, if addressed, would greatly increase the ease of use, and the quality of editing, of the average user.\u00a0 Much of what is proposed by NEW! makes sense, and the end result would be an increase in participation and use of Wikipedia, as well as a reduction in server load (as edits would need to be tested and re-done less often through a <a title=\"WYSIWYG entry in Wikipedia\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/WYSIWYG\">WYSIWYG<\/a> editor).<\/p>\n<p>Kudos to NEW! for taking the time and energy to propose these changes, and hopefully the developers at MediaWiki take these suggestions to heart.<\/p>\n<p><em>found via <a title=\"Kai Li's Facebook page\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/kai.lee.nalsi\">Kai Li<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Wikipedia Redefined is a proposal by a creative agency called\u00a0NEW! which presents changes that would make Wikipedia more usable, both as a user and as an editor.
