{"id":3431,"date":"2010-06-23T18:39:53","date_gmt":"2010-06-23T22:39:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.libology.com\/blog\/?p=3431"},"modified":"2010-06-23T18:39:53","modified_gmt":"2010-06-23T22:39:53","slug":"open-source-ils-glossary","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.libology.com\/blog\/2010\/06\/23\/open-source-ils-glossary.html","title":{"rendered":"Open Source ILS Glossary"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Earlier this month, <a href=\"http:\/\/esilibrary.com\/esi\/\">Equinox Software<\/a>&#8216;s Bob Molyneux posted an <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.esilibrary.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/oss_ils_glossary_060220105.pdf\">Open Source ILS Glossary in Pdf format<\/a>.\u00a0 It is a great overview of the concepts and environment of the current open source library software environment.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Today Bob posted an <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.esilibrary.com\/2010\/06\/23\/an-open-source-ils-glossary-html-format\/\">updated version in HTML format<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">&#8230;and while I was tracking down the link for the original Pdf version, I discovered a guide designed for libraries considering the move to an open source ILS:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.esilibrary.com\/2010\/06\/09\/things-to-think-about-for-a-new-evergreen-library-consortium\/\">Things to Think About for a new Evergreen Library Consortium<\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">It contains quite a few thought-provoking questions designed to make libraries evaluate their policies, structure, technological abilities, and other elements that for most libraries have developed over a period of years\/decades, usually in response to environmental pressures that may or may not still exist.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">I think that utilizing this essay as a mental self-evaluation of our own organization could be quite beneficial, even if there isn&#8217;t an ILS change being considered.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Earlier this month, Equinox Software&#8216;s Bob Molyneux posted an Open Source ILS Glossary in Pdf format.\u00a0 It is a great overview of the concepts and environment of the current open source library software environment.
