{"id":2364,"date":"2007-06-13T12:25:33","date_gmt":"2007-06-13T17:25:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.librarysupportstaff.org\/?p=333"},"modified":"2007-06-13T12:25:33","modified_gmt":"2007-06-13T17:25:33","slug":"michael-gormans-sleep-of-reason-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.libology.com\/blog\/2007\/06\/13\/michael-gormans-sleep-of-reason-2.html","title":{"rendered":"Michael Gorman&#8217;s Sleep of Reason"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/mg.csufresno.edu\/\">Michael Gorman<\/a>, former president of ALA, has riled up some people with his posts on Britannica Blog titled <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.britannica.com\/blog\/main\/2007\/06\/web-20-the-sleep-of-reason-part-i\/\">Web 2.0 : The Sleep of Reason (part I)<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.britannica.com\/blog\/main\/2007\/06\/web-20-the-sleep-of-reason-part-ii\/\">(part II)<\/a>.<a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.britannica.com\/blog\/main\/2007\/06\/web-20-the-sleep-of-reason-part-ii\/\"> <\/a><\/p>\n<p>He makes some excellent points about scholarship and the perils that accompany a lack of authority, but wastes his efforts by railing against the internet as a whole, and against those who participate in generating content (ironic, given that he is making these points in blog entries).<\/p>\n<p>These posts are well worth reading, though, as they do make excellent points and raise valid issues.
